Navratras are going on these days and many friends and family members keep fast during 9 days. Many also avoid eating onion and garlic during these days. I generally fast for the first and last navratara. During these AUSPICIOUS Days people also offer sweets for bhog to Maa durga. Sweets that are usually grain free. I also made this Quick and easy sweet for Prasad. Dates barfi is very easy, healthy and delicious recipe. You can add more dried fruits like kaju, pista, Apricot etc. that’s up to your choice. The best part is this is sugar free. So you can eat it guilt free too.

Here is the recipe
DATES, AlMOND AND WALNUT BARFI

INGREDIENTS

Black dates deseeded and finely chopped 1 cup
Finely chopped Almonds 1/3 cup
Finely chopped walnuts 1/3 cup
melted ghee 1tbsp ( little warm)
cardamom (elaichi) powder 1/4tsp
oil for greasing the plate or bowl 1/2 tbsp

METHOD

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead well to form a soft dough (for approx. 5 to 7 minutes).
  • Spread the mixture on a greased plate or rectangular bowl and allow it to set for at least half an hour.
    You can also refrigerate it also.

  • Cut into equal sized pieces and serve.

    NOTES
    If you don’t have seedless dates, you can soak dates in water for 3-4 hours and then take out the seeds, then make them dry using a Kitchen towel and use them to make dough.
