MURG KALI MIRCH| BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN

Murg Kali mirch means Chicken Black pepper which is a very delicious Indian Chicken recipe. This is very easy and quick to prepare. The use of black peppercorns give it the right amount of spicy flavor.
In India we use yogurt a lot of times to marinate chicken in various recipes. In this recipe also chicken in marinated in a mixture of yogurt, cashews and spices for few minutes. This goes excellent with rumali rotis or tandoori rotis.

MURG KALI MIRCH

INGREDIENTS

Chicken 400gms
cardamom 2-3
black peppercorns-1tsp
Bay leaves- 2 or 3
onions-2
ginger-1/2 inch cube
garlic- 10 flakes
milk-1/2cup
cashews-5to6
yogurt-1/2 cup
red chili powder- 1/2tsp
garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
salt to taste
oil- 2 tablespoon

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  • Prepare a paste of cashewnuts, yogurt, ginger and garlic and keep aside.
  • Crush green cardamoms, and keep aside. Slice the onions.
  • Now heat oil in a Pan and add bay leaves,green cardamoms and peppercorns. I used whole ones but you can crush if you want. Then add sliced onions to the pan.
  • Once the Onions turn brown, add chicken pieces and cook till the color changes to white.
  • Now add the prepared paste and cook for another 10 minutes on medium flame.
  • Now add 1/2 cup milk and 1 cup water. Add salt to taste.
  • Mix well and cook until chicken is almost done. Now add black peppercorns and bring the mixture to boil.
  • Garnish with cilantro or coriander leaves and enjoy!
